One Year Later....

I just realized the other day that I've been blogging for a whole year now. Thanks for reading. I have nothing else to say.

Utah, Gimmie Two

As some of you may or may not know, Friday night, my uncle, Eric flew me out on a trip to Park City, Utah. It sure was an amazing trip. On that note, here is my Jason Parks sized blog.

FRIDAY
I left Long Beach Airport at 6:20pm. The plane ride was awesome because I was sitting next to a guy who complained about everything. I decided that he was not gonna ruin my flight so i turned on my ipod and listened to some stand-up comedy. Then I get off the plane in Salt Lake City. I get lost. I'm trying to talk to my uncle to get directions out of the airport, but like a good uncle who is supposed to lhave his phone on so I can call him while I land, he has his cell phone off. To make a long story short, I find my other uncle, John, and everything is cool.

We leave the airport at about 10:00 and my uncles want to take me out to eat. There aren't any eatting establishments open at this time, and this brings me to a very good question, "What's the best palce to eat in Park City"? A bar called O'Shucks. I'm kind of thinking that O'Shucks is an Irish pub with a cool Irish name, but it's not. It has a cool name, but it's not Irish. It's kind of a dive with the best hamburger in the world. After dinner, he takes be back to his huge house and we are met by my grandpa and his wife, Paula. I hung out with my family for a bit and went to sleep

SATURDAY
On Saturday morning, I wake up to watch the sunrise. Everybody says it's the best part of waking up. I thought the best part of waking up was Folgers in your cup. I guess I was wrong. I looked out the window and was like," Huh, that's really pretty". and went back to sleep. I had a rough time, and went on a hike instead.

Uncle Eric had to work, so my Grandpa took me out to breakfast. My grandpa can't just go around the corner to go eat breakfeast. This one time, when he was living in San Diego, I woke up, and he took me to breakfeast in SOLVANG!!! For those of you that don't know where Solvang is, Solvang is by SANTA BARBARA!!! My grandpa lived in SAN DIEGO!!!! I lost my train of thought. Right, breakfast.

We head out to this little town called Heber, and we eat at aplace called Chick's. Chick's is managed by a guy who used to be the manager of Arthur's in Downey. How cool is that? So I went in your room and read your diary, yeah! Sorry for the little Weezer tangent. After breakfast, we go into town and we got fishing licenses. Later on, we went fishing in the Provo River. It was awesome. I caught a log. After we went fishing I drove home. That's right, I. Actually I am almost over my fear of driving.
We came home, had dinner, watched about three hours of The Office and went to sleep.

SUNDAY
I tried again to watch the sunrise. I did but it was from the bathroom window. Then I went downstairs to wish my Grandpa and Paula a safe ride home. They drove back home to Seal Beach.

My uncles are outdoorsmen. They've always been. My uncle John wanted to take me hiking. I can't really do much because I have a messed up leg, but the reason I went to Utah in the first place was to build a better relationship with my uncles because I haven't seen my uncle Eric in almost three years, and even though my uncle John still comes out to Downey all the time, I don't really see him a lot. So I went hiking.

I asked how long the hike was and I was told that it was just a couple of miles. It was plus six miles more. It was agood hike. We got to hike up the ski runs. We hiked up and passed an almost secret spot with a little sign that read, "Picabo S.". Which I thought was a weird name for a run. I was blind and didn't realize that the run was named after olympic gold medalist, Picabo Street. It was really hot and my uncles didn't realize that I was not used to the altitude and went on without me. A few minutes later they came back for me and we hiked back.

Later that day, my uncle Eric took me to church. His church was a catholic church. We sit there listening to the sermon and it comes to communion. My uncle looks at me and says, "Sorry Chris, in the catholic church, you are not allowed to take the communion unless you've been confirmed. I was kind of pissed off because, I love God, I think of communion as a symbol of what God did and how much he loves me. I guess I had to respect the rules of the catholic church. The rest of that day, I was just not in a good mood.

MONDAY
I woke up and decided that this was my last day and I was gonna see that sunrise. It's effing cold in the morning in Utah. I put on a couple of layers of clothing. I got up and hiked and took this trail. I stood there and just appreciated what God has made. I stood there for about half an hour watching the sunrise. It was beautiful. It's one of those things that we take for granted.

I came back to the house and packed my clothes. Uncle Eric had some work to get done. So he dropped me off in town. I got to hang out in Old Town Park City by myself for a few hours. Old Town is awesome. There is a cool ski lift in the middle of town and it can take you up into the mountain. Park City is also the home of the first Claim Jumper restaurant. In my little journey through Old Town, I came across the little theater that they have the Sundace Film Festival. The theater isn't that big at all, but it atracts everybody. It's probably the size of the Avenue theater in Downey.

After I hang out in town for a bit, I see a guy on his motorcycle and think to myself how cool it would be to own a motorcycle and ride it to the hills. Then, I turn around and see my uncle Eric on his motorcycle. "Hop on!" I am freaking out because he doesn't have a helmet. In Utah, there is no helmet law. I get on and it is one of the coolest rides ever. We get back to the house and gives me the keys and all of a sudden, I'm riding a motorcycle by myself. OMG, I am just freaking out. Then he takes me to the airport.

I get to the airport and meet my good friend, Jason Parks. We fly out. I tell him how cool the trip was and then I tell him that I'm thinking of moving out there. What an awesome place. Then we get home and the trip is over.

The Last Great Year For Going To The Movies.

Last night I got to thinking that going out to the movies just isn't that fun anymore. Although, this summer wasn't too disappointing. Nowadays, it costs more to go. I never thought I'd be paying more than $10 so soon. I thought I'd be in my mid-thirties when that happened. Snacks are a fourtune too. Going to the movies just isn't as fun as when I went as a kid.

When I was younger, I got really excited to go see a movie. Mainly, because there were no movie theaters in Downey growing up. There was one in the Stonewood mall, but I was a little kid when they took that out and would never see another one until 1997. Ooops, I forgot about the Avenue. Nobody ever went to the Avenue.

Going to the movies was a family event. We mostly went during the summer or Christmas time. You know, when the cool movies came out. I think going to the movies stopped being fun in 1997, when we got the Krikorian. I say this because instead of going once in a while, you could now go whenever you wanted to.

This brings me to a whole new question. When was the last great year for going to the movies. For me, it was 1999. For you, it may be different. You might think that 2004 was the last great year for going to the movies, or you could say that it was 1984. We all have different opinions.

Saved By Zero

A lot of people that know me think of me as an encyclopedia of fun. I have a vast knowledge of music and movie trivia. Heck, I even beat a team of people at Scene it by myself. I am not perfect. There have been times where I have been stumped. The biggest one was at a Jr. High winter camp where they had a name that tune contest for all of the adult leaders. They played some weird song from the eighties that I had never heard of before. It is possible to stump Chris Luna. A couple of weeks ago I had a stump that my mom could not believe!

We were hanging outside her house washing her car. She had the radio on and a song came on that I didn't know. It sounded like it was an eighties song, but I knew I had never heard it before. "Alright Chris, what song is this", she asked. I had to think. I had to stop and think. I was stumped. I just didn't know it. "C'mon Chris, Saved... Saved By... Saved By..." I was really trying to think. I just had no idea and I gave up. My mom couldn't believe I didn't know what it was. The song was Saved by Zero. I have heard of the song before, but I had never heard the song before.

The other night my cool roomate, Erick and I were watching tv and the same thing happened. The same song too. When the song was playing at my mom's house, I wasn't paying attention to how the song went. So when it came on tv, I didn't know it.
I think I am losing my trivia knowledge. That, or I need to start listening to more music.

Halloween Costume Idea!!!

Halloween / my sister's birthday is almost here. I really haven't had any costume ideas until now. My friend, Angelo had a crazy idea on what I should dress up for on Halloween. All I have to say to that idea is that I do need "change". I even think I need to make some "progress" on choosing this costume, because "yes we can" choose the right costume together. I say we, because I want you,"America" to help give me more ideas for a costume. Please comment me with more ideas

Should The Adventures Of Young Indiana Jones Be So Dang Expensive?

The other day, I went into Best Buy to get myself a copy of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (Which, by the way is WAY better the second time around. There are still some stuff that is like, "REALLY"!? But, on the other hand it was George Lucas' vision, so here's to ya) and next to it was The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles DVDs. I was kind of thinking that the price went down but it didn't. It's still like eighty something for each set. So I looked on ebay and the prices are lower, but it's like fifty something instead of eighty. I just don't want to spend that much on a tv show. I may be better off (dare I say it) finding the videos instead of the DVDs. I just want to complete my collection and be a happy man.

The Number Of The Beast

So last night I played Guitar Hero 3 for the first time since March. For a lot of people out there medium isn't really that hard at all. For me it's different. Mostly because I have really bad hand-eye coordination. I did however beat most of the songs on medium.

I've had the game since Christmas. and last night I finally beat, "Number of the Beast" by Iron Maiden. This is a really hard song to play. Especially when you don't really listen to Iron Maiden, and you have never heard that song before. So that's what I did last night. I still can't play "Raining Blood" and I had to have my roomate play "One" because I just can't seem to do it.

More To Come

I bet you've been asking yourselves, "gee, I wonder when Chris is gonna make another swell Ooongatz movie again. It's been since June and I would really like to see another one by golly". Well, Like Robert Zemeckis did with Back To The Future Parts 2 and 3, I am making 2, count them, 2 Ooongatz movies at the same time. Hopefully, they'll be ready by Thanksgiving. One of them will be a Christmas adventure. The other will be my take on a popular story about a boy who grows a giant beanstalk in his backyard. While you're waiting you can watch the old ones.

TOFU

I was looking at my phone today and noticed that the last four digits on my phone spell out "Tofu". Now, I'm not a huge fan of tofu, but it's kind of cool that when I tell people my number that it's blah blah blah tofu. It's like I have a friend named, Dave and Dave's number is blah blah blah Dave. And then I remembered that one of my friend's numbers from long ago was blah blah blah Chia (I use blah blah blah because I don't want to give out my number and your number over the internet). I don't remember who's number that was. That's all.
