My Dad's Band Mate

So check this out, I was cleaning up my room, and I came across my dad's band's record. Since I don't have a record player, I thought maybe I would get lucky on the internet and typed it in. It was released by Polydor Records. Tower of Power, Pancho Sanchez, and Elton John's bassist played on it, so it was worth a shot.

So I did a search on Google, and bam there it was, The Brian West Band - Don't Stop Now. The bad thing was, I couldn't find any audio of it. I do have some good news to report. It turns out that my dad was right and the album hit "gold" in Norway. Brian West's real name is Brian Haner. Some of you out there may know Dusty Haner Jr., his nephew, or Synester Gates from the band, Avenged Sevenfold. That's his son.

It also turns out that Brian opens up for the stand-up comedian, Jeff Dunham. I guess Brian is known as, "The Guitar Guy". So I found one of his songs on Youtube and here it is.

Scrubbing Bubbles

Some childhood memories just stick. A few months back, I blogged about how whenever I hear the song, "These Dreams" by Heart I start crying. I do. I don't start balling. A little tear comes to my eye when I hear it. I lied. I turn into a baby when I hear that song. I have another memory that is almost as messed up. This one has do do with a particular cleaner called, Scrubbing Bubbles.

When I was little I would watch TV with my mom. A little commercial with these little cartoon bubbles with evil faces would come on. This for some reason would freak me out as a toddler. My mom would tell me not to worry, because it was just a cartoon.

I remember one day we went grocery shopping and without thinking, she bought some Scrubbing Bubbles. Let's go back for a minute. As we were in the aisle, she told me to get it because it was on the bottom shelf and I was smaller back then so it was far much more easier for me to get it than her. Plus she was pregnant with my sister and it was hard for her.

I remember just looking at the canister and telling her no. I was scared that the bubbles were going to come out and get me. Then she realized why I was scared, so she went ahead and got the Scrubbing Bubbles herself.

I kinda forgot about it until I went to scrub the toilet and lo and behold was a canister of... Scrubbing Bubbles. I had a little flashback, then laughed, then ran to the hill. The end.

Leave Octomom Alone!

Years ago on Youtube, a boy named Chris told the world to leave Britney alone. Now a twenty year-old man named Chris wants you to leave Octomom alone. Sure, she's a whackjob who now has 14 kids, but tonight I turned on the TV and saw a mob of people in front of her house as she brought home two of her new children. I mean hey, She's been though a lot the past weeks and all she wanted to do was to bring her babies home. Leave Octomom alone!

I Haven't Vented in a Long Time....,

Sometimes when I blog, It's something silly, or I have a countdown that nobody pays attention to. Once in a while I will write about something serious. I am not afraid to write what is on my mind. This is something I've been wanting to write about for a while.

My church motto is, "Love God, Love People, Serve the World". I'm afraid I am having a hard time loving a certain person that NEEDS love. There's a guy who has come into my life very recently that just freaks me out. I don't say this to kid, but it's true. It's hard for me to show love towards him. I have the hardest time just going up to him and just say the word, "Hello".

This man has been hanging around the church for about a year now. If you go to the same church as I do, you've seen him. He usually wears a Transformers shirt. The guy is in love with Optimus Prime. I don't know his whole story. I think he may be homeless. This man spends most of the day in the kitchen of the church talking on the phone. He smells awful. He talks to himself, and I really don't know how to act towards him. I also feel that if you rub him the wrong way, that he will just lose it. I do feel scared.

Wednesday night is when we have our youth service at church. What if he goes crazy one day and a student sees him? Worse, what if he takes it out on one of the kids. I'm not the only person that feels this way. I know, I may be acting shallow. I may just be judging a book by it's cover. He may be a great guy, I just don't know how to show this man the love, and like I've said before, I wish I knew how to act towards him.

The Mix Tape, R.I.P. My Friend

I miss the days when making a mix tape and taking hours and sometimes days to make it perfect. Do you remember the effort in making the perfect mix tape? I do. You'd sit there listening to the entire song. Then you'd realize half way through, "The Heart of Rock and Roll" that you didn't want that song on there, you wanted, "Cat Scratch Fever", or maybe, "We've Only Just Begun", no wait, "Genie in a bottle". Then you'd have to rewind the tape, find the beginning of the song you wanted to tape over and start with a fresh song.

There is no effort now. It's so easy with CDs. Nowadays you just go into a music organizing program, make a playlist, and you have a CD. If you don't want, "Only the Good Die Young", you can just click a button, and boom the song's gone. You can replace it with, "I Lean Like a Cholo", or "Twist and Shout" or even, "A Long December", just like that.

I'm not complaining about mix CDs. They are a lot easier to make than mix tapes. I just miss the hard work it would take in mixing a tape. There I'm done.
